On March 18–20, 2025, at DIA Europe in Basel, ELPA President Marko Korenjak highlighted the importance of embedding patient voices in all aspects of healthcare innovation and policy development. He emphasised that sustainable healthcare solutions cannot be achieved without direct input from patients, particularly those living with chronic conditions such as liver disease. His contributions at the conference reinforced the growing recognition that patient experiences must guide the design of more responsive and effective healthcare systems. Korenjak also stressed the need for long-term, inclusive healthcare policies that consider the specific challenges faced by liver patients across Europe. He advocated for increased collaboration between patient organisations, regulators, researchers, and industry stakeholders to foster a healthcare environment where patient engagement is encouraged and expected. By participating in high-level dialogues like DIA Europe, ELPA continues to push for systemic change that prioritises patient-centred care and equitable access to medical innovation.
