HEPTA - Association for health education, prevention and improved treatment

Goals and objectives of our association:

  • creation and realization of efficient preventive programs for protection of infections with the viruses C and B hepatitis,
  • improvement of the standards for treatment of the persons infected with the viruses of the hepatitis C and B
  • strengthening and raising the public awareness for the needs of the persons infected with the viruses of the hepatitis C and B and their families
  • hanging the attitudes in the community towards the persons infected with the viruses of the hepatitis C and B, and their families, in order to get complete support and assistance during their social involvement
  • creation and realization of programs for adequate professional informing or consulting of persons infected with the viruses of the hepatitis C and B
  • creation and implementation of SOS help programs
  • creation and realization of programs for reducing damages from infections with hepatitis C and B from abuse of drugs and other psychoactive substances
  • creation and realization of programs for protection of the human rights of persons infected with the viruses of the hepatitis C and B and their families
  • creation and realization of programs for research of several aspects of the life of the persons infected with the viruses of the hepatitis C and B, and their families, which results will contribute to the realization of the human rights, in the creation of the preventive programs, in improvement of the treatment etc
  • creation and realization of programs for education and qualification of persons from a target group, professional from different profiles, persons from other nongovernmental organizations, young people etc.
  • creation and realization of programs for social marketing and public relations
  • cooperation with institutions, professional organizations, nongovernmental and humanitarian organizations and individuals in the Republic of Macedonia and abroad, in order to mobilize the public in providing permanent material, financial and technical support of the activities of the Association

The tasks of the Association are:

  • cooperation with differently profiled professional services in the educational, health and social institutions, the institutions in the local self-government and nongovernmental organizations in the mutual creation and realization of efficient preventive programs
  • creation and realization of programs for early detection, prompt intervention and timely, efficient treatment of young people and other persons infected with the viruses of the hepatitis C and B, in cooperation with differently profiled professional services in the educational, health and social institutions, the institutions in the local self-government and nongovernmental organizations
  • cooperation with the health service and the centers for social work for timely referring to adequate treatment of the persons infected with the viruses of the hepatitis C and B, and their families
  • cooperation with the health service in improving the standards for treatment of the persons infected with the viruses of the hepatitis C and B, and their families
  • cooperation with the centers for social work in improving the social protection of the persons infected with the viruses of the hepatitis C and B, and their families

Most important achievements:

  • Therapy for hepatitis C is placed on the positive list of drugs with the help of our lobbying and understanding by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Macedonia
  • Testing previously was charged, but we managed to reach an agreement with the Ministry of Health and to be free
  • Anyone can receive therapy in their town, not like previously when all came to the capital Skopje to receive it.
  • Mandatory testing of health care workers in systematic examinations
  • Getting funding for therapy for a period of 5 years, for 48 infected from Global Found
